NOTICE OF FEE INCREASE
Effective July 1st, 2009, recording fees will increase by $2.00. The fee for the first page of all documents, EXCEPT for plats of survey, will be $9.00. Each additional page will be $5.00. The fee for plat of survey will remain at $7.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page. The fee increase will be effective from July 1st, 2009, through June 30th, 2011.
NOTICE OF NEW FILING REQUIREMENT
Effective July 1st, 2009, transfer documents (that require Groundwater Hazard Form) dated after July 1st, 2009, will need to provide the latest Groundwater Hazard Form. Any transfer document that does not provide the latest form will not be recorded. If the property has a septic system on it as noted on #6 of the Groundwater hazard form, then you will need to file the DNR form 542-0191 (see below).

Iowa's time of transfer inspection law (SF261) was passed by the Iowa legislature in April of 2008 and takes effect July 1, 2009. The new law requires that every home/building served by a septic system have that septic system inspected prior to the sale or deed transfer for the home/building. All inspections must be conducted by an inspector that has been certified by the department and the Report form must be filed along with Groundwater Hazard form. More info.
